There’s something special about vintage clothes. A story, a vibe, an era—they carry all of that with them.
As a teenager, I was always excited to rummage through the back of the closets at home. To me, it was a bit like a treasure hunt. Sometimes I’d find an old piece that no one wore anymore, but I immediately saw the potential in it. I especially loved the clothes my mom used to wear. There was something timeless about them—as if a little piece of the past had moved into my closet.
For me, vintage clothes weren’t just about style—they were also a source of inspiration. I really loved the feeling of being able to breathe new life into a piece. That something that might have been forgotten could become special again. Plus, it gave me the chance to have truly unique clothes on a budget—something I might not have been able to do otherwise— —and ones that I definitely wouldn’t have seen on the street, whether it was a long skirt with a floral print that became the perfect summer dress with a thin, pretty belt, or a shirt that, with a little alteration, became truly my style.
In the end, these always ended up being my favorites. My closet was full of clothes, but when I had to choose, I almost always reached for the vintage pieces.
Putting together outfits has always been a creative game for me. I especially loved pairing these outfits with new and vintage jewelry. A vintage dress with modern jewelry, or a minimalist outfit with a unique vintage accessory—these combinations were what really gave the look its character. That’s when I first truly realized that style isn’t about trends, but about stories.
Over time, I found myself thinking more and more often: what if I could share this feeling with others?
That’s how the idea for the maradó. webshop came about.
